The Forestville Hockey Club Management Committee and Facilities Sub Committee are delighted to announce the State Government’s commitment to fund new facilities at the Woman’s Memorial Playing Fields (WMPF).
$9 million has been committed to the project, of which $1 million has been provided towards the upgrade of Bangka War Memorial which recognises the sacrifice of 22 Australian Army Nurses on Bangka Island Radji Beach and commemorates Australian women who served their county in the armed forces.
$8 million will be allocated to the development of sporting facilities at WMPF. The redevelopment includes a new synthetic playing surface for Forestville Hockey Club (shared with Sturt Lacrosse), multipurpose clubroom and change facilities, redevelopment of Lacrosse and Soccer grass playing surfaces and new site infrastructure including lighting, drainage and irrigation systems.
This announcement is a wonderful outcome for Forestville Hockey club, the local community and for the development and growth of hockey within South Australia.
We would like to the thank the Office of Recreation and Sport, City of Unley, Sturt Devils Lacrosse Club, Cumberland United Women’s Football Club, South Australian Women’s Memorial Playing Field Trust, Annabel Digance, Jayne Stinson and local members of the community for their ongoing support throughout this process.

Please bring your running gear.

Juniors
Hookin2Hockey and Come and Try/Bring a friend for Under 9 and Under 11 teams will start again on Sunday February 19th at the club, 9.00 am for Hookin2Hockey and 10.00 am for Under 9/11.
We will be working with our PL squads to organise some pre-season skills training sessions for Under 11 to 18’s as well, commencing mid-February at CBC. Stay tuned for further details.
Forestville Hockey Club is as close as we have ever been to securing a home facility at the Women’s Memorial Playing Fields. The master plan for the site is complete which includes a new facility for FHC.
One of the final stages is showing the Government the level of club and community support for this facility, and for the club. It is now crucial that you, your family and your friends, show your support for the club and this development.

Women’s Coaches
Ian Jennings has been appointed as the Premier League Women’s Coach, support by James Dwyer as the Metro 1 Women’s coach for 2018.
Men’s Coaches
Paul Blenkiron has been appointed as the head coach for the Men’s Premier League squad in 2018. Other coaching announcements to follow in the coming weeks.
This is an exciting time at Forestville Hockey Club and we know that with these coaching appointments, the Club has taken a very positive step towards becoming a dominant force in South Australian hockey.
There are many other ways to help the Club out other than being on the management committee. This includes participating in sub-committees, or planning events.
If you are able to commit some time regularly for the season, or for a one off event, please contact the club.

I would like to welcome all Forestville Hockey Club members to the 2018 season. While the season is still a few months away, the new management committee are working hard to prepare for the upcoming season.
We are pleased to announce the exciting appointment of the Women’s Premier League Coach for 2018, Ian Jennings. Ian has been PLW coach at Adelaide HC for the last 4 years, involved with Suns for past 2 years as a Performance Analysis and Assistant Coach and the Head Coach of U21 State Men for the past 3 years. We welcome Ian to Forestville Hockey Club and we look forward to the skills and experience he can bring to the playing squad.
When Ian initially met with the club he was extremely impressed with the passion and enthusiasm at FHC. Ian identified that PLW squad are a talented group who made big strides in the right direction over 2017 season and he is hoping to build on those successes. We welcome Ian to Forestville Hockey Club and we look forward to the skills and experience he can bring to the playing squad.
Our Premier League and M1 teams are starting pre-season, with the regular season commencing in early March 2018. We invite all players, juniors and seniors to join in with preseason training, details below.
FHC is working towards a new home facility at Women’s Memorial Playing Fields, it is now time to show your support to make this happen. We need to continue to obtain the signatures of our members, families and friends to lobby the State Government and local members.
