FHC - Pitch Update May 2025

Published Fri 09 May 2025

Fellow Panthers,

I am sure many of you are wondering what is happening at our new home at 101 Kitchener Street, Netherby. We apologise for the delay in providing this update while we sorted out a couple of last-minute planning issues with the City of Mitcham.

The good news is that the issues that held us up are now resolved!

The earth works and major plumbing works are complete, and we are getting ready for the pouring of concrete footings and foundation for clubroom and storage buildings as well as team dug outs and tech bench.   This work is scheduled to commence on the 21st May.

In the meantime, we are getting underway with a few small projects which are also quite exciting.

  1. Our new Score Board is up and running.
  2. Safety nets - we are getting ready to instal the safety nets on the eastern fence to reduce the number of stray hockey balls ending up in the construction area.  These nets will also enable us to train across the pitch with goals in place in the practice "D's" that are marked in blue dashes.
  3. We anticipate the Tech Bench and Team Dugouts to be ready around mid-June.
  4. We are currently in the process of refurbishing the old hockey goals at Millswood to bring them to Netherby so that we can use them for training which will give us four goals to work with.

### WE NEED YOUR HELP ####

We are looking for contacts to trades – in particular, supply and install air conditioning and concrete paving contractor. If you have a great recommendation, the team would love to hear from you! Again, we ask club members to bear with us while we work through the completion process for our new clubroom and other facilities.  At this stage we are obviously unlikely to be ready for use until late July or early August.

We hope you will continue to enjoy training and playing matches, for those of you with games scheduled at HOME, on our new pitch. We are continuing to monitor weather and will likely bring in popup shelters for teams if it ever rains – or for shade!

As always, we encourage you to help us keep the pitch and toilets clean by picking up any rubbish and placing in the bin provided. Please also report any issues to us, or to Mark Dayman.

One final request …. please ensure that you, your friends and family park in the UHS car park and avoid any parking in Kyre Ave and Seafield Ave adjacent the pitch.  We must also keep the laneway to the pitch clear of vehicles for safety reasons and most notably for Ambulance access in the event of an emergency.

Good luck with your coming matches.

Peter, Alison, Brocky & Simon.
